eggshell skull rule

The legal understanding that if one causes any injury to another person, he is liable for all the consequences that result, even if those consequences could not have been predicted beforehand. For instance, if someone were to punch a hemophiliac and thus cause a nosebleed by which the victim bled to death, the person who threw the punch would be responsible for the victim's death, even though a non-hemophiliac would have easily survived the punch.
